Porcelain, harvest beach sand slip, lightly glazed, then soda fired in a cross draft arch kiln.

Surface quality. The Iron present in sand at the outer most of the surface flux and flow into glaze solution to create rivulets and movement.

The iron in the sand that is protected with a thin layer of Clay slip maintains its structure creating a dark freckle.

The combination of reduction and soda yields variation in the surface from one side to the other.
